Childcare Center Director​

Kingdom Childcare Center is seeking to fill the position of Childcare Director for its startup location in Calverton, MD. This position will lead the operations of the Center, ensuring a nurturing environment for children in line with Christian values. The primary areas of responsibility include providing leadership to center staff, curriculum and program development, parent engagement, and ensuring child safety and welfare. Collaboration with members of the leadership team and advisory board are key to success.

Leadership

• Provides guidance and direction to center personnel, including teachers, para-educators, and volunteers that advance the education and learning of children in an engaging environment and in line with the mission and values of the organization.
• Promotes a positive work environment ensuring staffing levels are appropriate through effective recruiting, training, and supervision of team members.
• Develops and implements policies and procedures to advance the goals and objectives of the center, in addition to those that ensure compliance with state licensing regulations, safety standards, and recordkeeping.
• Recommends and manages budgets to support efficient operations of the center and ensures uses of funds are in line with strategic plans in support of center stakeholders.

• Builds strong relationships with parents to ensure engagement in their children’s education and their awareness of strategies to support the learnings received from the center.
• Fosters an environment where parents are encouraged to be involved in programs and activities occurring at or in support of the school to build community within the center.
• Develops communication channels, including, but not limited to in-person and virtual conferences, electronic or physical newsletters, and reports to inform parents of their children’s progress and school happenings.
• Builds relationships with other faith-based organizations that support the growth and advancement of Christian-based learning in childhood education and development.

• Develops policies and guidelines in line with local, state, and federal regulations for the purpose of ensuring the safety and well-being of children, which includes emergency preparedness and response plans, and health and safety certification of center staff.
• Ensure staff members are properly trained on child supervision procedures inclusive of behavior management (individual and social) and hygiene and addresses any concerns with parents or guardians proactively to prevent issues or escalation of issues.
• Properly report to relevant agencies any incidents which compromise or potentially compromises the health and safety of children.

• Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Development, Education, or similar.
• Experience having led or actively participated in the launch of a child care center.
• Experience managing or leading childcare center staff.
• Experience developing programs and curriculum.
• Certified in CPR and First Aid.
• In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal compliance and safety laws/regulations.
• In-depth knowledge childcare safety protocols.
• Exceptional communication skills.
